Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the I Ching, readings and our application.

The I Ching, or Book of Changes, is one of the oldest texts of Chinese civilization, dating back approximately 3,000 years. It is both a divination system and a philosophical treatise based on 64 hexagrams, each composed of six solid (yang) or broken (yin) lines. It is used as a tool for personal reflection and discernment.

Our application uses the traditional three-coin method. For each line of the hexagram, three coins are tossed simultaneously. The combination of heads and tails determines whether the line is yin or yang, and whether it is changing (in transformation). Six tosses produce a situation hexagram and, if there are changing lines, a perspective hexagram.

A hexagram is a figure composed of six stacked lines, each of which can be solid (———, yang) or broken (— —, yin). There are 64 possible hexagrams, each carrying a name, a judgment and an image. Each hexagram is formed by two trigrams (groups of 3 lines): a lower trigram and an upper trigram.

Changing lines are lines in transformation. An old yang (9) transforms into yin, and an old yin (6) transforms into yang. These lines indicate movement, an evolution of your situation towards a new configuration. The specific text of each changing line provides additional insight into your question.

The AI interpretation is a complementary tool that contextualizes the traditional I Ching texts in relation to your specific question. It does not replace the classic texts (which are always displayed), nor professional advice. Consider it as additional insight to nourish your personal reflection.

The free plan offers 3 readings per month with a short AI interpretation and a journal limited to the last 5 readings. The Premium plan (€8.99/month or €69/year) offers unlimited readings, deep AI interpretation (psychological, relational and decision-making analysis), intelligent question reformulation, and a complete journal with favorites, tags and search.

Yes, the discovery reading is completely free and requires no sign-up. You can perform up to 2 discovery readings per day. To save your readings in a personal journal, you can create a free account.

Prefer open-ended questions that invite reflection rather than closed questions (yes/no). For example, instead of "Should I change jobs?", try "What attitude should I adopt regarding my current professional situation?". Questions that start with "How", "What" or "Which" generally work well.

Yes, your readings and reflections are strictly personal and are never shared with third parties. Only you can access your journal. Discovery readings (without an account) are not permanently stored.

A trigram is a symbol composed of three lines, yin or yang. There are 8 fundamental trigrams: Heaven, Earth, Water, Fire, Thunder, Wind, Mountain and Lake. Each hexagram is formed by two trigrams, and their interaction determines the meaning of the hexagram.
